DJ Lee is one half of cheesy/uplifting (delete as applicable) duo Megara vs. DJ Lee. Don’t ask me what happened to Megara, I haven’t got a clue. Together they have released some amazing material over the last 5 or so years.
I’m not fussed though, because this is still a good tune, so if I’m lucky these two will make twice as much now they are now producing alone
Club Mix
The Club mix is one of those things that DJ’s hate: the better tune on a Vinyl that’s an absolute bastard to mix.
It starts well enough, a very subtle sub bass purrs underneath a solid kick, which builds to snare rolls, which then all cut out to a vocal, then a riff starts.
Ok I know you might be thinking “doesn’t sound too difficult to me”, but trust me, it is. It just doesn’t sounds right if you cut the outgoing track because there is no loud crash like there all in all other tracks that do that.
You just really have to know your tunes when mixing this, which makes you think twice when going through your bag looking for what to play next.
Other than that though, there is nothing else bad with this (maybe except that its only 4 mins 58 seconds long!). Staying true to previous productions, the bass is chunky but never the main attraction, the riff is very nice, but maybe slightly too much on the cheesy side. The breakdown is brief, getting to the point very quickly before throwing you back into the meat of the tune.
It’s certainly not ground breaking, and could certainly have done with taking a bit longer to do what it wants to, because after listening to this I can’t help but be left with the feeling I’ve just had a one night stand, because it’s all over too quickly.
Wham, bam, thank you DJ Lee!

Topmodelz Remix
On the flip side is the Topmodelz Remix (whether they actually are top models or not is unclear, no photo evidence has been seen, leaving this as a stewards enquiry).
Whilst this tune is a dream to mix compared to the Club mix, one thing is clearly evident, and that is that it is just not as good, which is a shame given. It’s still too short though coming in at 5 mins 11 seconds.
The bass is a lot more bouncy, (which is something I try to avoid in my music if i'm honest) but at least the kick is solid and so is the percussion. There are also some nice guitar chords which have been added which are a nice touch. The vocal is used less to, but i’m not that bothered about that as it neither was good or bad in the club mix.
The break down is more subtle, choosing to use a filtered bass to take things down, before the riff starts, accompanied by the guitar.
It’s all well and good, but it lacks the energy and drive of the original, but it’s a shame that I can only see myself really playing the Topmodelz remix out anytime soon.
